British Association of Fire Equipment (BAFE)

With the implementation of the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order from 1st October 2006 it is the responsibility of the system user or appointed responsible persons to ensure the installed fire detection and alarm systems are maintained correctly.

To this end the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) and British Fire Protection Systems Association (BFPSA - now FIA) advise that companies with third party accreditation, such as British Approvals for Fire Equipment & Systems (BAFE), should be contracted.

From 1st April 2008, all new fire alarm systems will have to de designed, installed, commissioned and maintained by a third party certified company. Recognised certifications are BAFE SP203 or LPS1014

BDS Fire and Security are third party accredited by The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) to BAFE SP203, for system design, installation, commissioning and service of fire systems.
